So, Is Jesus Almighty God?
The Bible Says that God is not a Man.
The Bible says:
Numbers 23:19 "God is not a man..."
1 Samuel 15:29 "And also the Strength of Israel...is not a man..."
Job 9:32 "For he is not a man, as I am ..."
Hosea 11:9 "...For I am God, and not man..."
Jesus is called a man many times in the Bible:
John 8:40 "...a man who has told you the truth..."
Acts 2:22 "Jesus the Nazarene, a man attested to you by God with miracles and wonders and signs which God performed through Him in your midst, just as you yourselves know."
Acts 17:31 "He will judge the world in righteousness through a man whom He has appointed"
1 Tim. 2:5 "...the man Christ Jesus."
God is not a man, but Jesus, is a man, therefore, Jesus is not God.
The Bible Says that God Is Not a son of man.
Numbers 23:19 "God is not a man...nor a son of man..."
The Bible often calls Jesus "a son of man" or "the son of man."
Matthew 12:40 "For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth."
Matthew 16:27 "For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels;..."
Mark 2:10 "But so that you may know that the Son of man has authority..."
John 5:27 "And hath given him authority to execute judgment also, because he is the Son of man."
In the Hebrew Scriptures, the "son of man" is also used many times as a synonym for "man". Ezekiel is very often called by this title. (Job 25:6; Psalm 80:17; 144:3; Ezekiel 2:1; 2:3; 2:6; 2:8; 3:1; 3:3; 3:4; 3:10; 3:17; 3:25).
God would not contradict Himself by first saying He is not a son of man; then become a human being who was called "the son of man". God would not have done so because He is not the author of confusion. Also, human beings, including Jesus, are called "son of man" specifically to distinguish them from God, who is not a "son of man" according to the Bible.
The Bible Says that God is Greater than Jesus.
John 14:28 "...My Father is greater than I."
John 10:29 "My Father...is greater than all..."
Jesus cannot be God if God is greater than him. The trinitarian belief that the Father and son are equal is in direct contrast to the clear words from Jesus.
The Bible Says that Jesus Recognized and Prayed to the Only True God.
Jesus prayed to God with the following words:
John 17:3 "...that they might know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent."
Jesus prayed to God all night:
Luke 6:12 "he continued all night in prayer to God."
Here is an example of Jesus praying to God:
Matthew 26:39 "...he fell with his face to the ground and prayed, O My Father..."
The writer of Hebrews said:
Hebrews 5:7 "Who in the days of his flesh, when he had offered up prayers and supplications with strong crying and tears unto him that was able to save him from death, and was heard in that he feared;"
Who was Jesus praying to when he fell on his face with loud cries and petitions? Was it himself? Was Jesus crying in tears to himself? Surely the answer must be a resounding 'No.' Jesus was praying to "the only true God." Jesus was the servant of the One Who sent him. Can there be a clearer proof that Jesus is not God?
The Bible says that the disciples did not believe Jesus was God.
The Acts of the Apostles in the New Testament details the activity of the disciples over a period of thirty years after Jesus, ascended into heaven. Throughout this period, they never referred to Jesus as God. For instance Peter stood up with the eleven disciples and addressed a crowd saying:
Acts 2:22 "Men of Israel, listen to this: Jesus of Nazareth was a man accredited by God to you by miracles, wonders and signs, which God did among you through him, as you yourselves know."
For Peter, Jesus was the servant of God (confirmed in Matthew 12:18):
Acts 3:13 "The God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, the God of our fathers, has glorified his servant Jesus."
Acts 3:26 "God raised up his servant Jesus..."
When faced by opposition from the authorities, Peter said:
Acts 5:29-30 "We must obey God rather than men! The God of our fathers raised up Jesus, whom you killed by hanging him on a tree."
The disciples prayed to God just as they were commanded to by Jesus in Luke 11:2, and considered Jesus to be God's servant,
Acts 4:24 "...they raised their voices together in prayer to God. 'Sovereign Lord,' they said, 'you made the heaven and the earth and the sea, and everything in them.'"
Acts 4:27 "...against your holy servant Jesus, whom you anointed..."
Acts 4:30 "...through the name of your holy servant Jesus."
The Bible says that Jesus is God's servant, chosen one, and beloved.
Matt. 12:18 "Behold, My servant, whom I have chosen, in whom My soul is well pleased."
Since Jesus is God's servant, Jesus cannot be God.
The Bible says that Jesus could Not Do Anything of himself.
John 5:19 "The son can do nothing of himself; he can only do what he sees his Father doing."
John 5:30 "I can of mine own self do nothing."
Jesus did not consider himself equal with God, rather he denied doing anything of himself.
The Bible says that God performed miracles through Jesus.
Matt. 9:8 "But when the crowds saw this, they were awestruck, and glorified God, who had given such authority to men."
Acts 2:22 "a man attested to you by God with miracles and wonders and signs which God performed through him in your midst."
Acts 10:38 "...he went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with him."
If Christ was God, the Bible would simply say that Jesus did the miracles himself i.e. of his own power, without making reference to God. The fact that it was God performing the miracles through Jesus; shows both that God is greater than Jesus and that Jesus is not God.
The Bible says that Jesus is subordinate to God.
1 Corinthians 11:3 "Now I want you to realize that the head of every man is Christ, and the head of the woman is man, and the head of Christ is God."
1 Corinthians 15:27-28 "For he [GOD] hath put all things under his [Jesus'] feet. But when he [GOD] saith all things are put under him [Jesus], it is manifest that he [GOD] is excepted, which did put all things under him [Jesus]. 28 When he has done this, then the son himself will be made subject to him who put everything under him, so that God may be all in all."
Since Jesus is subordinate to God, he is not God.
The Bible says that Jesus grew in wisdom and learning.
Jesus grew in wisdom, but Almighty God has no need to learn anything:
Psalms 147:5 "Great is our Lord and abundant in strength; His understanding is infinite."
Luke 2:52: "And Jesus increased in wisdom."
God does not need to learn, but Jesus learned.
Heb. 5:8 "Although he was a son, he learned obedience..."
The Bible says that Jesus had limited knowledge.
Mark 11:12-13 "On the next day, when they had left Bethany, he became hungry. 13 Seeing at a distance a fig tree in leaf, he went to see if perhaps he would find anything on it; and when he came to it, he found nothing but leaves, for it was not the season for figs."
It is clear from these verses that the knowledge of Jesus was limited on two counts. First, he did not know that the tree had no fruit until he came to it. Second, he did not know that it was not the right season to expect figs on trees.
Mark 13:32 "No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the son, but only the Father."
Since Jesus, does not know, he is not all-knowing, he is not omniscient. Therefore, he cannot be the all-knowing God.
The Bible says that Jesus was tempted, but God cannot be tempted.
Heb. 4:15 "...tempted in every way - just as we are..."
James 1:13 "...for God cannot be tempted by evil..."
Since God cannot be tempted, but Jesus was, therefore, Jesus cannot be God.
The Bible says that Jesus' teachings were from God, thus NOT from himself.
John 7:16-17 "Jesus answered them, and said, My doctrine is not mine, but his that sent me. 17 If any man will do his will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or whether I speak of myself."
Jesus could not have said this if he were God because the doctrine would have been his.
The Bible says that Jesus died, but Almighty God cannot die.
1 Timothy 6:16 "Who only hath immortality, dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto; whom no man hath seen, nor can see: to whom be honour and power everlasting. Amen."
Revelation 1.18 "I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; ..."
The Bible teaches that Jesus died. Jesus testified that he was dead! God cannot die! God alone has immortality which means God cannot die! Immortal means, "not subject to death." Jesus died so he cannot be God.
The Bible says that Jesus now lives by the power of God.
2 Corinthians 13:4 "For though he was crucified through weakness, yet he liveth by the power of God. For we also are weak in him, but we shall live with him by the power of God toward you."
Romans 6:9-10 "Knowing that Christ being raised from the dead dieth no more; death hath no more dominion over him. 10 For in that he died, he died unto sin once: but in that he liveth, he liveth unto God."
Jesus cannot be God because his very existence, his very life, now depends on the power of GOD. And all the saints have this very same hope!
The Bible says that Jesus called the Father "my God."
John 20:17 "I ascend to my Father and your Father, and my God and your God."
Rev. 3:12 "... the temple of my God... the name of my God... the city of my God... comes down out of heaven from my God."
Jesus did not think of himself as God, instead Jesus' God is the same as ours. Even in his resurrected, glorified state; he recognizes he has a God! So Jesus cannot be God.
The Bible says that God cannot be seen, but Jesus was seen.
John 1:18 "no man has seen God at any time."
1 John 4.12 "No man hath seen God at any time."
1 Timothy 6:16 "Who only hath immortality, dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto; whom no man hath seen, nor can see: to whom be honour and power everlasting. Amen."
Yet many people had seen Jesus! Thus, Jesus cannot be God.
And the List goes on ... ... ...
and on ... ... ...
and on ... ... ...
of Scriptural statements which clearly show
that
the Lord Jesus the Messiah is not Almighty GOD!
NB: The above was based upon a post taken from another source on the Net. I have therefore added more verses and modified accordingly. One simply cannot argue against the truth of Scripture!
