An Appeal to Oneness believers

Came across these posts of the One God view on Facebook.

It was written by someone who used to be a Oneness believer! Whose eyes has been opened.

May the ONE TRUE GOD continue to open the eyes of Oneness people that they may see His Son, our one Mediator, the man Christ Jesus. Amen!

Please consider these very interesting statements by Jesus Christ...

• Jesus told us that he was NOT God:
• Mark 10:18 (KJV) And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God.
• Jesus told us that he HAD A GOD:
• John 20:17 (KJV) Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God.
• Jesus, while praying to HIS GOD, made this statement:
• John 17:3 (KJV) And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.

So who then is Jesus?

• Jesus' God revealed Jesus' identity to the Apostle Peter: 
• Matthew 16:16–17 (KJV) And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God. 17 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.
• The Apostle John echoed this revelation:
• 1 John 4:14–15 (KJV) And we have seen and do testify that the Father sent the Son to be the Saviour of the world. 15 Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God.

Along with the Apostles, 

I confess that Jesus is the CHRIST, the Son of GOD!

To all my cherished Oneness brothers and sisters: 

I humbly ask you to consider the following statements of our Lord Jesus Christ...

John 5:31–37 (KJV)

31 If I bear witness of myself, my witness is not true. 32 There is another that beareth witness of me; and I know that the witness which he witnesseth of me is true. 33 Ye sent unto John, and he bare witness unto the truth. 34 But I receive not testimony from man: but these things I say, that ye might be saved. 35 He was a burning and a shining light: and ye were willing for a season to rejoice in his light. 36 But I have greater witness than that of John: for the works which the Father hath given me to finish, the same works that I do, bear witness of me, that the Father hath sent me. 37 And the Father himself, which hath sent me, hath borne witness of me. Ye have neither heard his voice at any time, nor seen his shape.

A couple of interesting principles about Jesus' statements here:

1) Jesus said "If I bear witness of myself, my witness is not true." That means that if Jesus WAS the Father, he would be bearing witness of himself, and therefore his witness would not be true. Jesus is appealing to a SECOND witness, in addition to HIMSELF, GREATER than himself.

2) Jesus refused the witness of man, even John the Baptist. And appealed unto a GREATER witness than man: HIS FATHER. To say anything else is to try and make God a liar:

1 John 5:10 (KJV)

He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son.

3) Jesus was standing there IN THE FLESH, for all the people present to HEAR HIS VOICE, and SEE HIS SHAPE. And while Christ is speaking, he tells them that they have NEVER HEARD THE VOICE OF GOD, and NEVER SEEN THE SHAPE OF GOD. 

So they are looking at Christ, and hearing Christ's voice, and Christ tells them that they have not heard the voice of God, or seen the shape of God.

How then can Christ BE the Almighty GOD?

He is NOT! 

This teaching that Jesus IS the ALMIGHTY GOD, whether the Trinitarian version or the Oneness version, is a TRADITION OF MEN.

He is the CHRIST, the SON of GOD!
This teaching is the TRUTH as proclaimed by God, Christ, and the Apostles
(God = Matthew 16:15-17, Christ = John 20:17, and the Apostles = 1 John 4:14-15)

Preaching Jesus...

Acts 17:18 (KJV)
Then certain philosophers of the Epicureans, and of the Stoicks, encountered him. And some said, What will this babbler say? other some, He seemeth to be a setter forth of strange gods: because he preached unto them Jesus, and the resurrection.

But what Jesus did Paul preach?

Acts 17:29–31 (KJV)
Forasmuch then as we are the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the Godhead is like unto gold, or silver, or stone, graven by art and man’s device. 30 And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent: 31 Because he hath appointed a day, in the which he will judge the world in righteousness by that man whom he hath ordained; whereof he hath given assurance unto all men, in that he hath raised him from the dead.

Paul preached that Jesus is the MAN that God 1) ordained and 2) raised from the dead.

The Apostle Peter proclaimed THAT SAME JESUS:

Matthew 16:15–17 (KJV)
He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am? 16 And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God. 17 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.

[I will add Acts 2:22

Ye men of Israel, hear these words; Jesus of Nazareth, a man approved of God among you by miracles and wonders and signs, which God did by him in the midst of you, as ye yourselves also know:]

The Apostle John also proclaimed THAT SAME JESUS:

1 John 4:14–15 (KJV)
And we have seen and do testify that the Father sent the Son to be the Saviour of the world. 15 Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God.

[I will add John 20:31

But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name.]

This is the Jesus that even GOD HIMSELF testified of:

Jesus is the CHRIST! He is the SON OF GOD!

A False Assumption:

To my cherished "Oneness" brothers and sisters, I humbly ask you to please consider this:

There is NOT ONE VERSE in the entire Bible that speaks of a "dual nature" in Christ. 

NOT ONE VERSE that says Jesus was "fully God and fully man." Many Oneness proponents are now being honest enough with the Scriptures to admit this, and I RESPECT THEM GREATLY for their honesty.

Here is the danger with believing the ASSUMPTION of a "dual nature" in Christ: Those who believe in the false ASSUMPTION of a "dual nature" in Christ, make the fatal error of interpreting the WHOLE Bible by a FALSE ASSUMPTION. 

For example:

The Bible CLEARLY says that God sent HIS SON. Yet, the Oneness doctrine, because of this ASSUMPTION, teaches that God did not send HIS SON, but sent HIMSELF.

The Bible CLEARLY says that Jesus HAS A GOD. Yet, the Oneness doctrine, because of this ASSUMPTION, teaches that Jesus somehow is his OWN GOD.

The Bible CLEARLY says that Jesus prayed to HIS GOD. Yet, the Oneness doctrine, because of this ASSUMPTION, teaches that Jesus was somehow praying to HIMSELF.

The Bible CLEARLY says that God testified of HIS SON. Yet, the Oneness doctrine, because of this ASSUMPTION, denies God's testimony and teaches that God testified of HIMSELF.

The Bible CLEARLY teaches that Christ was tempted and that GOD CANNOT be tempted. Yet, the Oneness doctrine, because of this ASSUMPTION, teaches that God WAS TEMPTED in that they believe Jesus WAS GOD.

The list goes ON and ON...

The point is, that because of one false ASSUMPTION, that they CANNOT PROVE with even JUST ONE VERSE, they then filter the ENTIRE BIBLE through this ASSUMPTION.

Why not just BELIEVE GOD? Why not believe God's testimony of HIS SON? Why try to change God's testimony to fit an ASSUMPTION of MEN?

1 John 5:10 (KJV)
He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son.

I ask all my brothers and sisters currently believing the Oneness doctrine to be HONEST with the SCRIPTURES. Please admit to YOURSELF that it is ludicrous to filter the ENTIRE BIBLE through an ASSUMPTION that you CANNOT prove with Scripture? Why not BELIEVE GOD? Why not believe GOD'S OWN TESTIMONY instead of the ignoring what God's Word PLAINLY declares, just to believe the ASSUMPTIONS of MEN?

May we be HONEST with ourselves and with the Scriptures?

A huge problem for Trinitarians

"But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father."  Mark 13:32.

Recent predictions of Jesus' return to the earth, has brought up an interesting question:  If Jesus was God (which if you profess to believe in the doctrine of the Trinity, you indeed believe that Jesus is "very and fully God"), then how could Jesus, the Son of God, NOT know when he was returning? 

The Bible teaches clearly that the Almighty God, Yahweh, knows everything.  So it stands to reason, if Jesus was the Almighty God, then he should  have known when he was coming back, yet he admitted that he was ignorant of this piece of information and knowledge!

This definitely presents a huge problem for Trinitarians to explain, to reconcile that Jesus may not be omniscient [all knowing], while still supposedly Yahweh.


Pro Golfer and Theologian, Kermit Zarley, discusses this dilemma in his book entitled, "The Restitution of Jesus Christ," and I have heard him say that this was one of the first things that he struggled with, when he was a Trinitarian. "Did Jesus know, but lie about knowing," he wondered.  After much research, study and wrestling with who Jesus was and is, he came to the conclusion:
that Jesus was not God Almighty.

Some Trinitarians attempt to come to terms with this problem by applying the "dual nature of Jesus" method that "Jesus did not know in his human nature, but he did know in his 'godhead' or 'divine nature.' " For Jesus to be ignorant of the time of his return is explained with this theory that is not found anywhere in Scripture.  To believe that Jesus had dual natures, with two different minds that did not communicate these important facts with one another, is a bit like creating a schizophrenic god-man, who if he was God, pretended not to know, or failed to talk with the other side of himself.  Either way, it's quite troubling, even for Trini's to adhere to.

Another explanation is that the Father did not want the Son to know yet, but would inform him at a later time (Augustine's view).  However, according to Trini's belief, Jesus is 'the man' while the "Son" is the eternal godhead part.  In Mark 13:32, Jesus refers to himself, explicitly as "The Son." Therefore, the eternal godhead Son part of his dual nature, did not know and was not informed, and to assume the Son would be told 'later' by the Father, is to assume that the Father knew more than the Son, which goes against the "co-equal" requirement of the Trinitarian creed.

Oh what havoc the Trinity doctrine has created in Christianity!  

• For there is one simple solution: 
• to believe that Jesus is the SON of GOD, but not God.  
• To believe that the Father alone, is God.  
• His Name is Yahweh,
  the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.  

To try to make God into a three-person godhead, creates so many holes and inconsistencies with Scripture, that those who have a mind to question what they are being taught in their churches, will just shake their head at such nonsense and walk away from the church, to become isolated believers of Jesus Christ on their own.  It's terribly sad.  For if one stands up and begins to question this precious Trinity doctrine, you will be quickly made to "accept this by faith, since we cannot understand God and His thoughts are higher than ours" or shown the door.  I believe in this instance, that man's thoughts have become higher than God's in their own minds.  Rather than to accept simple Scripture, they have convoluted it, added to it, and made their creeds higher than God's. Dare question their thoughts, and you're in huge trouble.  Thankfully, we are no longer in a century when we are killed, burned at the stake, or our houses burned, for standing up for the belief in one God, alone!

John 17:3 says it well:
"This is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, 
and Jesus Christ whom You have sent."

Jesus is praying to his heavenly Father "YOU, the ONLY TRUE GOD"!  

This is ETERNAL LIFE that we may know our God - YOU, the only True God!  
and JESUS CHRIST, whom YOU [Almighty God, Yahweh] sent to us!

Until the Church gets this right, we will continue to wrestle and struggle with what we are asked to believe.
It is not so difficult, if we just believe the words of the man, Jesus, himself!

Let us be true followers of Jesus, who GOD has made both "Lord and Christ" (Acts 2:36.).  Let us go back to the Jesus that is found in Scripture and rid ourselves of the creeds that have shackled and handicapped the church for far too long.  Let there be a cry out for truth across our great land, and let this be a time of a great awakening to who we are to be following:

1. Christ Jesus, the Son of God or 
2. Jesus, "the dual-natured, 2nd person god-man of a tri-headed god".  

I choose (1.) the Jesus of the Bible, the Son of God, my lord, my soon-coming messiah, my savior and redeemer, to whom I will place my trust.

When one asks me a name of the view I now dearly hold (regarding Christology) I would have to say my view falls in line with what has been termed "Biblical Unitarian"

Below I would like to state some reasons why I adhere to this description.

The Reasons why I am Biblical Unitarian:

• Because the Father is called the God of Christ as He is the God of Christians. “Jesus saith unto her, …
  Go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father and your Father; and to my God and your God,” John 20:17.

• Because our Saviour, after having said, “I and my Father are one,” gives his disciples distinctly to understand that he did not mean one substance, equal in power and glory, but one only in affection and design; as clearly appears from the prayer he offers to his Father in their behalf,
  –“that they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us,” John 17:21 -- see also verses 11, 22-23

• Because Christ virtually denies that he is God, when he exclaims,
  “Why callest thou me Good? There is none good but one, that is God,” Matthew 19:17.

• Because Christ affirms, in another connection, and without the least qualification,
  “My Father is greater than I,” John 14:28

• Because Christ says, “My father is greater than all,” John 10:29. Is not the father, then greater than the son?

• Because, in the same sense in which we are said to belong to Christ, Christ is said to belong to God. “And ye are Christ’s; and Christ is God’s,” 1 Cor. 3:23.

• Because the head of Christ is God. “I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of every woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God,”
  1 Cor. 11:3.

• Because Christ is represented as our intercessor with God. “It is Christ that died, yea, rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us,” Romans 8:34.

• Because Christ is an Apostle appointed by God. “Consider the Apostle,…Christ Jesus, who was faithful to him that appointed him,” Hebrews 3:1, 2.

• Because Christ is declared, in unnumbered instances, to be the Son of God. “And lo, a voice from heaven, saying, this is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased,” Matt 3:17.
  Can a son be coeval and the same with his father?

• Because Christ not only never said that himself was God, but, on the contrary, spoke of the Father, who sent him, as God, and as the only God. “This is life eternal, that they might know Thee, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom thou hast sent,” John 17:3.
  This language our Saviour used in solemn prayer to “his Father and our Father.”

• Because Jesus Christ is represented by the sacred writers to be as distinct a being from the only God, the Father; as one man is distinct from another.
  “It is written in your law, that the testimony of two men is true. I am one who bear witness of myself, and the Father that sent me beareth witness of me,” John 8:17, 18.

After considering some of these Biblical reasons I consider myself a Biblical Unitarian..

Sound familiar? It probably does to the Oneness Pentecostal. This is pretty much standard among the Pulpit railings. When is the last time you took time to investigate things you hear? I know many would probably not even dare question something that came over the Pulpit but seriously when is the last time or have you ever? It is not a matter of trust, it is a matter of doing your own digging for once. After all Jesus did challenge the Jews to do this very thing one day...


John 5:39  Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.

Have you ever thought about WHERE in the Bible is it taught that God is Father in Creation, Son in Redemption, Holy Ghost in Regeneration? If we are to believe something about God should we not be able to at least find a source or scripture that even teaches such a thing or concept? There is no doubt that God is our Father.
There is no doubt that God is Spirit (John 4:24) but there is definitely doubt at least in the scriptures that God is Son.

Because nowhere in the Bible does it teach "God the Son"

Oneness groups are quick to point this out to their Trinitarian counterparts but they turn around and teach basically the same erroneous ideal that God became a man and they base it of this word "manifest" as in 1 Timothy 3:16

And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.

Nowhere in the entire Bible does it teach what the Oneness teachers teach regarding God, yet it is never challenged or brought to their attention and if it was it will generally get explained away in some way or fashion. How is it they believe Paul and the things he wrote but will not accept what he wrote about God?

1 Cor 8:4  As concerning therefore the eating of those things that are offered in sacrifice unto idols, we know that an idol is nothing in the world,
and that there is none other God but one. 

1 Cor 8:5  For though there be that are called gods, whether in heaven or in earth, (as there be gods many, and lords many,)

1 Cor 8:6  But to us there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in him;
and one Lord, Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him.

To US Paul says...One God...and Amen to that but pay attention to what he says..
one God, THE FATHER...and...one Lord, Jesus Christ...

Where is Paul describing God as our Oneness friends do?
Where is Paul saying that the one God the Father is the Lord Jesus Christ??

Paul does not say God is 3 manifestations.. Paul says that God is one and He is Father!

Jesus would agree with Paul

John 17:1  These words spake Jesus, and lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, Father, the hour is come; glorify thy Son, that thy Son also may glorify thee:

John 17:2  As thou hast given him power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to as many as thou hast given him.

John 17:3  And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God,
and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.

What did Jesus say while looking up to Heaven?
Father ... glorify me (not I glorify myself) ... you gave me power, the ability and authority to grant eternal life, to as many as YOU FATHER gave me,
THIS is eternal life, that they (those who will believe) might know
YOU FATHER THE ONLY TRUE GOD
and me Jesus Christ (the one YOU authorized,commissioned and sent)

Paul and Jesus believe this in regards to who God is! How about you?

Why Jesus the Messiah our Lord IS NOT GOD ALMIGHTY!

To begin with the Lord Jesus Christ  himself proclaimed that he is a man:

John 8:40 NKJV
“But now you seek to kill me, a MAN who has told you the truth which I heard from God....”

According to this verse, the Lord Jesus not only made an explicit statement that he is a Man, but also showed that he is distinct from God. He said, “a Man who has told you the truth which I heard from God.” This distinction between him and God is shown in many statements of the Lord Jesus, for example:

John 17:1,3 NKJV
“Jesus spoke these words, lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said: ‘Father, the hour has come. Glorify Your Son, that Your Son also may glorify You…And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God...”

Mark 15:34 NKJV
“And at the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, ‘Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani?’ which is translated, ‘My God, My God, why have You forsaken me?’”

Seeing that Jesus is “a man;” the Bible also states that God is not a man — God explicitly said that he is not man:

Hosea 11:9 NKJV
“I will not execute the fierceness of My anger; I will not again destroy Ephraim. For I am God, and not man, The Holy One in your midst; And I will not come with terror.”

It is clearly written in the Bible that God is not man — And because the Lord Jesus Christ explicitly said that “he is a Man,” thus, he is not God.

It's That Simple!!

Jesus said in John 4:24 that the one God is Spirit; He also said a spirit does not have flesh and bones:

Luke 24:38-39 NKJV
“And he said to them, ‘Why are you troubled? And why do doubts arise in your hearts? 39 Behold my hands and my feet, that it is I myself. Handle me and see, for a spirit does not have flesh and bones as you see I have.”

Although the Lord Jesus Christ is not God, however, he is the Son of God, the Lord Messiah, the Savior of the world and God’s greatest Prophet.
(Matt. 16:16, Luke 2:11, John 4:25-26,42; Deut. 18:15,18-19; Acts 3:20-26 )

The true God is the Father of the Lord Jesus Christ because this is what he himself taught:

John 17:1,3 NKJV
“Jesus spoke these words, lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said: "Father, the hour has come. Glorify Your Son, that Your Son also may glorify You,
3 And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.”

This is eternal life that we accept the truth written in the Bible as taught by Christ himself that the Father is the only true God.

THE FATHER ALONE IS THE TRUE GOD

Why the Lord Jesus Christ is not God? Because there is only one true God, the Father!
The Lord Jesus Christ is not the Father but the Son of the One True God, the Father.

2 John 3
Grace, mercy, and peace will be with you from God the Father and from the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of the Father, in truth and love.

This refutes especially the belief held by Oneness proponents.
Both Jesus (John 17:3) and the Apostle Paul said that the Father alone is the true God:

1 Corinthians 8:6 NKJV
yet for us there is one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we for him;
and one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom are all things, and through whom we live.

Thus, the apostles explicitly wrote that the true God is the God and Father of the Lord Jesus Christ:

2 Corinthians 1:3 NKJV
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort,

Ephesians 1:1-3 NKJV
Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, To the saints who are in Ephesus, and faithful in Christ Jesus: 2 Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. 3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ,

Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, and Timothy our brother, 2 To the saints and faithful brethren in Christ who are in Colosse: Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. 3 We give thanks to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, praying always for you,

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to his abundant mercy has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,

This is what the apostles taught and wrote because this is what they heard from the Lord Jesus Christ himself:

John 20:17 NKJV
Jesus said to her, "Do not cling to me, for I have not yet ascended to my Father; but go to my brethren and say to them, 'I am ascending to my Father and your Father,
and to My God and your God.'"

Rev 3:12 NKJV

“He who overcomes, I will make him a pillar in the temple of My God, and he shall go out no more. I will write on him the name of My God and the name of the city of My God, the New Jerusalem, which comes down out of heaven from My God. And I will write on him My new name.”

Thus, we ought to firmly believe that the Lord Jesus Christ is not God because Jesus clearly has a God; who is his Father, the only true God.

THE MAN CHRIST JESUS

As shown above Jesus said he is a man (John 8:40) and God said He is not man!
(Hosea 11:9, Num 23:19, Job  9:32, 33:12)

However Jesus is not simply a “mere” man as opponents to this simple biblical truth, like to say.
Rather he is the supernaturally conceived, virgin born, sinless, human Son of God, whom the one God made both Lord and Christ and set him at His own right hand to be Head of the Church as well as King in God's Kingdom. This glorified, now immortal human is the mediator between the one God and humanity.

So what did the Apostles testify concerning the man Christ Jesus?
 
Acts 2:22 NKJV
“Men of Israel, hear these words: Jesus of Nazareth, a Man attested by God to you by miracles, wonders, and signs which God did through him in your midst, as you yourselves also know”

Acts 2:36 NKJV
“Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly that God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Christ.”

Acts 5:30-31, Holman Christian Standard Bible
“The God of our fathers raised up Jesus, whom you had murdered by hanging him on a tree. 31 God exalted this man to his right hand as ruler and Savior, to grant repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins.”

1 Timothy 2:5, NKJV
“For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus”

Jesus is that man seated on the right hand of God prophesied of in the Hebrew Bible (OT)
e.g. Psalm 110:1 and

Psalm 80:17 NKJV
“Let Your hand be upon the man of Your right hand, Upon the son of man whom You have made strong for yourself.”

But this Man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down at the right hand of God,

So there is Two in Heaven: 

The Father and Jesus the Christ our Lord.

One is GOD — the other is NOT!

THE DISTINCTION BETWEEN JESUS THE CHRIST AND THE ONE GOD THE FATHER

Numerous verses of the Bible clearly state that the Father alone is the true God and that Jesus is the Son of the one God, the Father (2 John 3) and is therefore distinct from God:

John 14:28 NKJV
“You have heard me say to you, 'I am going away and coming back to you.' If you loved me, you would rejoice because I said, 'I am going to the Father,' for my Father is greater than I.”

Matthew 16:16-17 NKJV
“Simon Peter answered and said, You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”
17 Jesus answered and said to him, “Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah, for flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my Father who is in heaven.”

1 Thess. 1:9-10 NKJV
“For they themselves declare concerning us what manner of entry we had to you, and how you turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God, 10 and to wait for His Son from heaven, whom He raised from the dead, even Jesus who delivers us from the wrath to come.”

The Bible clearly teaches that the Lord Jesus Christ is the Son of the living and true God.

GOD IS IMMORTAL WHILE JESUS DIED ON  THE CROSS

The Bible explicitly states that the Lord God (YAHWEH God) is immortal:

1 Timothy 1:17 NKJV
“Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, to God who alone is wise, be honor and glory forever and ever. Amen.”

1 Timothy 6:16 NKJV
“who alone has immortality, dwelling in unapproachable light, whom no man has seen or can see, to whom be honor and everlasting power. Amen.”

In contrast, the Lord Jesus Christ died on the cross:

John 19:30,33 NIV
“So when Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, "It is finished!" And bowing his head, he gave up his spirit.
33 But when they came to Jesus and saw that he was already dead, they did not break his legs.”

Rev 1:18
“I am he who lives, and was dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore. Amen...”

GOD KNOWS EVERYTHING WHILE THERE IS SOMETHING JESUS DOESN'T KNOW!

God knows everything:

1 John 3:20 NKJV
“For if our hearts condemns us, God is greater than our heart, and knows all things.”

Yet the Son (the Lord Jesus Christ) doesn’t know the day or hour of his second coming:

Mark 13:32 NKJV
“But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.”

JESUS IS NOT GOD RATHER HE IS THE SERVANT OF GOD!

Acts 3:13 NKJV
“The God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, the God of our fathers, glorified His Servant Jesus, whom you delivered up and denied in the presence of Pilate, when he was determined to let him go.”

Acts 3:26 NKJV

“To you first, God, having raised up His Servant Jesus, sent Him to bless you, in turning away every one of you from your iniquities.”

Acts 4:24-31 NKJV
24 So when they heard that, they raised their voice to God with one accord and said:
“Lord (YAHWEH), You are God, who made heaven and earth and the sea, and all that is in them,
25 “who by the mouth of Your servant (same Greek word used in 3:13,26; 4:27,30) David have said:
‘Why did the nations rage,
And the people plot vain things?
26 The kings of the earth took their stand,
And the rulers were gathered together
Against the LORD  (YAHWEH) and against His Christ.’ (Psalm 2:1-2)

27 For truly against Your holy Servant Jesus, whom You anointed, both Herod and Pontius Pilate, with the Gentiles and the people of Israel, were gathered together 28 to do whatever Your hand and Your purpose determined before to be done. 29 Now, Lord, look on their threats, and grant to Your servants that with all boldness they may speak Your word, 30 by stretching out Your hand to heal, and that signs and wonders may be done through the name of Your holy Servant Jesus.”

31 And when they had prayed...

Surely these verses depicting a prayer to God speak for themselves. The Apostles are clearly praying
to God and in this prayer they regarded the resurrected, glorified Jesus as the One God, YAHWEH's servant!
The one God, YAHWEH, is clearly the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob; it is then just as equally clear that Jesus is the Servant of the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.

JESUS IS THE CHRIST OF GOD

Luke 9:20 NKJV
“He said to them, "But who do you say that I am?" Peter answered and said, ‘The Christ of God.’”

Christ is God? No! Clearly here is yet another distinction between God and Christ.

JESUS IS GOD’S APOSTLE AND GOD'S HIGH PRIEST

Hebrews 3:1 NKJV
“Therefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our confession, Christ Jesus,”

Hebrews 5:1,4-6,10 NKJV
For every high priest taken from among men is ordained for men in things pertaining to God, that he may offer both gifts and sacrifices for sins:
4 And no man takes this honor to himself, but he who is called by God, just as Aaron was.
5 So also Christ did not glorify himself to become High Priest, but it was He who said to Him:
“You are My Son,
Today I have begotten You.” (Psalm 2:7)

6 As He also says in another place:

“You are a priest forever

According to the order of Melchizedek”; (Psalm 110:4)

10 called by God as High Priest “according to the order of Melchizedek,”

Thus, claiming Jesus is God is like claiming that God’s Apostle is also God; and God’s
High Priest is also God. Two Gods? Rather, Jesus was called by the one God from among the human race (i.e. Jesus is just as human as the first man Adam was!) to be both an Apostle and High Priest to God! The book of Hebrews is clear.

ACCEPTING JESUS AS GOD WILL RESULT IN ABSURDITIES

God cannot be the author of confusion and absurdities. The Bible explicitly said that “God is not the author of confusion” (cf. 1 Cor. 14:33 KJV). What God wants is all men to be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth:

I Timothy 2:3-5 NKJV
“For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, 4 who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. 5 For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus”

Here is a list of apparent absurdities if one continues to maintain that Jesus is God :-

• A “SERVANT GOD”?

Accepting Jesus as God will result in accepting that the Almighty God is a “servant” of another God! Absurd! Rather the Bible explicitly states that Jesus is the servant of the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob: Acts 3:13 NKJV

And according to Jesus himself, the true God is greater than all:

John 10:29 NKJV
“my Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of my Father's hand.”

And Jesus also said that “A servant is not greater than his master”:

John 15:20 NKJV
“Remember the word that I said to you, 'A servant is not greater than his master.' If they persecuted me, they will also persecute you. If they kept my word, they will keep yours also.”

• A “SUBJECTED GOD”?

If Jesus is God, then “God is subject to another God” because the Bible said after all things are put under Jesus, he himself “will also be subject to Him who put all things under him”:

1 Corinthians 15:27-28 NKJV
“For ‘He has put all things under his feet.’ But when He says ‘all things are put under him," it is evident that He who put all things under him is excepted. 28 Now when all things are made subject to him, then the Son himself will also be subject to Him who put all things under him, that God may be all in all.”

A God subject to another God? A God under another God? This is absurd and unacceptable to true Christians! Rather the one God of the Scriptures is above all and has no equals.

Ephesians 4:6 NKJV
“One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.”

What is the truth? Jesus is not God, rather he is the Son of God: that after all things are put under him, the Son himself will also be subject to the One True God who is above all, namely, the Father.

Other absurdities appear if one teaches that Jesus is God. Since the one God is the Father, these absurdities especially apply to Oneness proponents. Absurdities such as:

• JESUS HEARD THE TRUTH FROM HIMSELF?

Jesus clearly said that he heard the truth from God:
John 8:40 NKJV
“But now you seek to kill me, a Man who has told you the truth which I heard from God...”

• JESUS PRAYED TO HIMSELF?

There are numerous verses of the Bible that show Jesus praying to God. This is one of those verses:

Mark 15:34 NKJV
“And at the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, "Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani?" which is translated, ‘my God, my God, why have You forsaken me?’”

If Jesus is God, then is he praying to himself? When he called “my God, my God” is Jesus referring to himself? Absurd!

Now, if one says that Jesus is God and yet he is not praying to himself but to another; then you have God praying to another God? What an absurdity.

Rather, the Lord Jesus Christ prayed to the One True God, the Father. Which is the way, all followers of Christ ought to pray!

• GOD WAS CRUCIFIED AND DIED ON THE CROSS?

 Jesus died on the cross. This is a fact accepted by all who profess they are Christians.

Thus, insisting that Jesus is God is insisting that God was crucified and died on the cross!! So, then we have a three-day period in the history of the universe that God was dead? Absurd indeed.

What is the truth? The truth is the man Jesus of Nazareth was crucified and died on the cross; and the one God, the Father, raised him from the dead
(Acts 2.22-24,32; 1 Cor 15:15; Gal 1:1).

• GOD IS SITTING AT HIS OWN RIGHT HAND?

The Bible clearly said that Jesus is sitting at the right hand of God:

Colossians 3:1 NKJV
“If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God.”

If Christ is God, then God is sitting at his own right hand! Absurd, isn’t?

Then, what is the truth? The Lord Jesus is sitting on the right hand of the One True God, the Father.

CONCLUSION: WHAT IS THE TRUTH THEN?

What is the truth about the Lord Jesus Christ, clearly written in the Bible that must be accepted by those who want to attain salvation?

1 Timothy 2:3-5 NKJV
“For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.
For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus.”
